Experimental services

Our experimental services combine automated, high-throughput lab work with structured data collection, so each round of results can guide the next.

  • High-throughput experiments in plates. We prepare samples, add reagents, create dilution series, and miniaturise assays in formats from single wells to 1536-well plates. We support microbial work, tissue culture, molecular biology, and cell-free systems.
  • Colony handling at scale. We pick and replicate microbial colonies in high-density arrays for library screening, chemical-genetics studies, and microbial-interaction experiments.
  • Colony imaging and quantification. We image microbial colonies with Colony Cam Vogue for high-throughput phenotyping, measuring colony size, colour, shape, and brightness, including over time.
  • Plate-based measurement and screening. We run growth curves, reporter assays, biochemical assays, and compound screens.
  • Integrated automated screening. A robotic workflow will connect colony handling, liquid handling, incubation, imaging, and plate reading for time-resolved experiments across up to 32 microplates in parallel.
  • Cell disruption and sample processing. We process samples from millilitre batches to litre-scale material.
  • Cell-free biopart prototyping. Our cell-free bacterial expression system transcribes and translates DNA parts linked to fluorescent, luminescent, or chromogenic reporters. We can test protein expression in hours without cloning DNA into cells or purifying the protein.
